    Saudi Mawani, Maersk, Refa signs deal to function cold storage center in Dammam

    (MENAFN) Saudi Arabia’s food security drive is prepared to take a massive leap forward following the nation’s port authority inked an agreement with Danish export firm Maersk to function a 30,000 sq. m refrigerated storage hub in King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam city.

    In line with the Saudi Press Agency, the authority – also known as Mawani — signed a deal with the company, in addition to Saudi Arabian Refad Real Estate, to operate the facility, which is estimated to have a yearly volume for 168,000 shipped in and outs pallets of frozen commodities and processed food, on top of that dairy outputs and seasonal fruits.

    Additionally, the new hub is going to also be equipped in line with global standards for temperature and humidity and greenhouse gas emissions are going to be lowered by a solar panel plant with a volume of up to 600 kilowatts.

    Moreover, the center is projected to produce more than 15 percent of the energy needs at the beginning of works.
