    Oman’s OQ, Kuwait Petroleum International sign deal to establish petrochemicals complex

    (MENAFN) Oman’s state energy firm OQ has inked a deal to establish a petrochemicals complex in the Duqm financial zone with Kuwait Petroleum Global and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. — also recognized as SABIC, state news agency ONA mentioned in a report on Wednesday according to a news agency.

    The special financial zone at Duqm sited in Al Wusta Governorate in Oman spans through an area of 2,000 sq. kilometers and has many financial, tourism as well as service development zones.

    It lso has a multi-purpose port, a dry dock for repairing ships, a fishing port, a local airport, as well as tourist, industrial and logistical areas.

    The new agreement inked by SABIC is one of the sevral attest deals by the firm to improve petrochemical complexes across the Kingdom and abroad.

    On Dec. 18, SABIC inked a memorandum of understanding with energy giant Saudi Aramco and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, recognized as Sinopec, to measure the financial as well as technical viability study to improve an integrated petrochemical complex with a current refinery in Yanbu.
