Iraq, Iran hold meeting in Baghdad to discuss establishing joint free trade zone
(MENAFN) The deputy chief of the Iranian Free Zones High Council stated on Monday that Iran and Iraq have agreed on a deal to establish a mutual free trade zone on the border of the two nations in the near future, as reported by the IRNA.
In line with Ahmad Jamali, the verdict for creating the stated zone was established throughout the two nations’ fifth Joint Economic Committee gathering in Baghdad.
Highlighting the fact that three of Iran’s major free zones are sited close to the Iraqi border, Jamali pointed out that in line with the mutual zone, these four free trade zones can play a massive part in growing the trade exchanges among the two nations.
On the offshoots of the gathering, Iranian Economy Minister Ehsan Khandouzi held a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Trade Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairy on Monday and talked about methods of growing financial relations.
While giving a speech at the gathering, Khandouzi highlighted the volumes of the two nations for improving trade and stated: “The capacity of exchanges between Iran and Iraq is far beyond the numbers recorded in the joint trade between the two countries.”
