    Ardebil Province Reports 23 Percent Increase in Honey Production

    (MENAFN) Ardebil province, located in the northwest of Iran, has reported a 23 percent increase in honey production in the past Iranian calendar year 1401, as compared to the previous year. The province produced 9,036 tons of honey during this period. The total number of apiaries in the province is 3,357, with 2,747 people working in these apiaries and 1,434 beekeepers in the province.

    In addition to honey, beekeepers in Ardebil province have produced over 140 kg of royal jelly, 23,216 kg of pollen, 145,442 kg of wax, 12,854 kg of propolis, and 121 grams of bee venom, which is often used for medicinal purposes. The honey produced in Ardebil province is of high quality due to the migration of beekeepers to flower-rich areas and the production of honey in the rich pastures of the mountains in the province.

    Ardebil province exports about 300 tons of honey annually to countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Persian Gulf littoral states, and Malaysia. The per capita consumption of honey in Ardebil is one kilogram, and the province's need is estimated at 1,250 tons. Honey is one of the most important souvenirs of Ardebil, and the honey produced in the province, known as Sabalan honey, has been registered internationally and has a national and international reputation.

    The increase in honey production in Ardebil province is a positive development for the agricultural sector in Iran. Honey production is an important source of income for beekeepers and is also beneficial for the environment, as bees play a crucial role in pollination.
