    Etihad: New code-share with Air New Zealand

    (MENAFN) The Chief Executive of Etihad Airways, James Hogan, said that after the carrier's deal with Virgin Blue of Australia, the company is taking another step to extend its network in Australia by becaming a code-share partner with Air New Zealand, reported The National. Hogan said that the alliance with Virgin Blue of Australia would allow the airline to add new 45 destinations. The CEO said that the deal includes placing Etihad's EY code on Air New Zealand flights between Sydney and Christchurch, Rotorua, Wellington and Queenstown, as well as placing the Etihad code on flights between Brisbane and Auckland, Brisbane and Christchurch and also between Beijing and Auckland. It is worth noting that all three carriers, Etihad, Virgin Blue and Air New Zealand had signed partnership contracts with each other in the past six months to take on the region's biggest airline, Qantas.
