Royal Jordanian seeks compensation from Boeing

(MENAFN) Royal Jordanian airline Chief Executive Officer, Hussein Dabbas, stated that the company asked for compensation from Boeing for the nearly four-year holdup of its 787 Dreamliner jets order, reported The National. Dabbas also said that the airline's USD2.2 billion order of 11 Dreamliner planes would not be delivered until the first quarter of 2014, thus delaying Royal Jordanian's expansion plans. The CEO added that the Jordanian firm leased 3 A330 Airbus planes and prolonged the service life of four of its long-haul Airbus A340 planes to counter the delay of its Boeing order delivery. It is worth noting that Qatar Airways is another customer seeking compensations for the delays in delivering Boeing's 787 Dreamliner. The delay has given European rival Airbus the chance to enjoy strong sales of its competing A330 jet.
