Saudi Arabian Airlines cuts 5,000 jobs

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabian Airlines' assistant director general, Abdullah Al Ajhar, said that as a result of the continuing privatization program, the country's national carrier cut more than 5,000 jobs, reported Gulf News. Al Ajhar added that the carrier would always hire Saudi pilots, for it employed some of those who submitted their applications to the company, whereas it refused other applicants who received their flying certificates from unrecognized aviation institutes. He also said that the company continued its training programs through which it would enable Saudi pilots to fly a new generation of aircrafts over the coming years, adding that appointment of pilots was done according to rules, and it didn't differentiate between foreigners and Saudis. It is worth noting that a group of Saudi pilots who have launched an online campaign to focus on their career problems said that the Saudi Arabian Airlines refused to hire them and was putting conditions on them that were impossible to meet.
