Al Habtoor Leighton seeks USD2.67b Saudi contracts

(MENAFN) Al Habtoor Leighton's chief executive and managing director, Laurie Voyer, said that by the end of 2011, the construction company would seek to sign two Saudi contracts that worth USD2.67 billion, reported Arab News. Voyer added that since the company planed to have fifty percent of its work outside the UAE by the end of 2012, by the end of this year, Al Habtoor Leighton would hope to sign onshore projects in Iraq and would bid on a USD36 billion railway and metro project in Qatar. He also said that as the company would seek to expand its investments in the GCC region, by year end, the firm forecasted to raise its current order book to USD6.81 billion from USD5.4 billion at the time being. It is worth noting that Leighton, Australia's biggest contractor, is a unit of Germany's largest builder Hochtief, in which Spain's ACS took a majority stake recently.
