    DoT launches first green flight

(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Department of Transport's (DoT) Executive Director, Mohammad Hareb Al Yousuf, said that in order to reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, the department along with the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) and Etihad Airways launched the first green flight, reported Gulf News. Al Yousuf added that the Etihad Sydney flight would be the first this year amongst a series of such flights between the UAE and Australia. He also said that in April, the department signed the Indian Ocean Strategic Partnership to Reduce Emissions (INSPIRE) partnership, through which development and implementation of operational procedures to lessen carbon emissions would be accelerated, in addition to developing current technologies and shared performance metrics. It is worth noting that the INSPIRE partnership helps airlines to slash Co2 emissions; in addition, it allows aircrafts to use technology that could see notable reductions in fuel use and carbon emissions by all aircraft.
