Sony aims to raise Mena market share

(MENAFN) Sony Gulf's managing director, Osamu Miura, said that the launch of the company's new cameras would increase Sony's camera market share in Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region from the current 10 percent to 20-30 percent, reported Gulf News. Miura added that Sony's share in the camera market in the UAE was 30 percent, whereas in Qatar and Saudi was 45 percent each, in Lebanon 30 percent and in Iran it was 35 percent. He also said that Sony Gulf's sales in 2010 were USD1.8 billion in the Mena region, whereas between March and April 2010, sales grew 1.8 percent, and 2011 would be expected to achieve a growth of 10 percent to 15 percent. It is worth noting that Sony's new line includes the Alpha SLT-A77, which is the world's fastest 12fps full resolution continuous shooting camera, and the Alpha NEX-7, NEX-5N and NEX-C3 for photographers to capture DSLR stills and video with interchangeable lenses.
