    Sharjah's Q3 hotel occupancy rises 4%

    (MENAFN) Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) said that during the third quarter, hotel occupancy in the emirate grew 4 percent from 2010 reaching an average 75 percent, reported Gulf News. The SCTDA added that the overall occupancy for hotels and hotel apartments went up 3 percent over last year, at an average of 72 percent, whereas occupancy for hotel apartments rose 3 percent from 2010 at 69 percent. It also said that the majority of guests staying at the emirates hotels came from Arab countries, mainly from the GCC, adding that hotels in the emirate offered moderate prices compared with those in Dubai. It is worth noting that during the quarter, the number of nights spent at hotels and hotel apartments in Sharjah jumped by 15 percent over last year's same period.
