    Qatar signs USD10.9b infrastructure contracts

    (MENAFN) Qatar's Public Works Authority's (Ashghal) president, Nasser Al Mawlawi, said that in order to enhance the country's local roads and drainage network, the authority inked USD10.9 billion 6 new infrastructure deals, reported Arabian Business. Al Mawlawi added that the new projects came as the government planned to achieve Qatar's National Development Plan. On the other hand, Ashghal's director of the infrastructure affairs department, Jalal Al Salhiat, said that the infrastructure improvement would be split into 5 zones, where each zone would have a general engineering consultant in order to provide design and construction supervision services for a 5 year period. It is worth noting that Ashghal appointed Parsons Brinkerhoff International as program management consultant, in addition to other firms awarded contracts for the zones.
