Abu Dhabi plans to host 2.3m guests in 2012

(MENAFN) The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's (Adta) strategy and policy director, Lawrence Franklin, said that the authority would expect to achieve its target of attracting 2.3 million visitors next year, reported Gulf News. Franklin added that in October, the emirate witnessed a high increase in the number of hotel guests, and the strong growth would be forecasted to continue since the capital planned to host the Formula 1 race in November. He also said that the 22,000 guests who visited Abu Dhabi and stayed in its hotels would be expected to contribute with 11.1 percent to the emirate's non-oil gross domestic product (GDP). It is worth noting that guest arrivals to Abu Dhabi grew from 960,000 in 2004 to more than 1.5 million in 2009, according to Adta.
