    Oman's Omran wins USD62m hotels contracts

    (MENAFN) Omran's Chairman, Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, said that the firm inked two contracts worth USD62 million with Oman's Tender Board to build two hotels in the country, reported Times of Oman. Al Jashmi added that Omran, the government's tourism development and investment arm, would construct the Khasab Hotel in the Governorate of Musandam and a hotel in Jabal Al Akhdar in the Governorate of Al Dhakaliya. He also said that a surge in the number of tourists was recorded in both Khasab and Jabal Al Akhdar, adding that these travelers would like to explore the country which should offer them quality hotels and value added services. The chairman said that that the Khasab Hotel would be located near the center of town and the local port on a reclaimed peninsula selected for tourism and commercial developments, whereas, the hotel in Jabal Al Akhdar, would be operated by Singapore based hotel chain Alila, and would be expected to become a luxury hotel and spa development. It is worth noting that Oman plans to attract 12 million visitors by 2020 in order to boost the Sultanate's tourism.
