UAE's Air Arabia posts 6% increase in passenger numbers

(MENAFN) UAE's Air Arabia said that the number of passengers it carried in 2011 rose 6 percent from 2010 to 4.7 million, reported Emirates 24/7. The Middle East's first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) added that in the period, it added 6 new routes to Moscow and Yekaterinburg in Russia, Kharkiv and Donetsk in Ukraine, and Gassim and Yanbu in Saudi. It also said that it took delivery of 6 new A320 aircraft from Airbus in 2011 as part of an order for 44 aircraft placed in 2007, adding that once completed in 2016, the order would increase the size of the carrier's fleet more than a double, as Air Arabia plans to raise its total operating fleet to over 50 aircrafts. It is worth noting that last year, Air Arabia launched non-stop services from its Alexandria hub to Milan in Italy, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi.
