    Occupancy at Qatari hotels up 0.4% in 2011

    (MENAFN) STR Global said that occupancy at Qatar's hotels were stable in 2011, 0.4 percent higher than a year earlier, reported Arab News. The company added that in the period, average daily rates rose 0.7 percent from 2010, whereas in the third quarter, over 6,000 hotel rooms comprising 25 hotels and 10 hotel apartments were launched. Moreover, the government is constructing 77 new hotels and 42 hotel apartments ahead of the 2022 World Cup, in addition to the construction of 12 new football stadiums. It is worth noting that according to the Secretary General of Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, Hassan Al-Thawadi, the number of tourist arrivals to Qatar is forecasted to reach 3.7 million by 2022, up from 900,000 at the current time.
