Iraq to boost imports of Iranian electricity

(MENAFN) Iraq's Electricity Ministry spokesman, Masaab Serri, said that his country plans to boost electricity imports from Iran to 1,150 megawatts (MW) a day from the current 1,000 MW a day, reported Tehran Times. Serri added that the extra amount, which would be received before summer, would be delivered via Iraq's 4 lines of supply from Iran. On the other hand, he said that his country also receives 250 MW a day from three Turkish ships docked off its southern coast. It is worth noting that currently, Iraq has the capacity to produce nearly 6,000 MW a day, whereas demand surpasses 14,000 MW.
