UK's International Power to build power plant in Kuwait

(MENAFN) UK's International Power's chief executive in the Middle East and Africa, Shankar Krishnamoorthy, said that the firm inked a deal to establish a 1,500 megawatts power plant in Kuwait, reported The National. Krishnamoorthy added that deal came as the company plans to expand its presence in the Middle East, especially in the Gulf region, through selling electricity to Gulf governments. He also said that the firm expects to set up the Kuwaiti plant, which would have the capacity to desalinate around 100 million imperial gallons a day of seawater, by 2015. It is worth noting that International Power is one of the world's key private suppliers of electricity and one of the biggest players in the region.
