Qatar Airways plans to add new US routes

(MENAFN) Qatar Airways (QA) unveiled plans to extend its US routes, including Atlanta, Chicago, Boston and Detroit within the next year, Bloomberg reported. CEO Akbar Al Baker said that the carrier will increase services to New York to three flights a day, with the addition of links via cities in Eastern and Western Europe. Washington and Houston are already on QA's network. He added that the carrier intended to make the move earlier, if it wasn't for the delay on the delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The carrier has placed orders for 60 Dreamliners as it works toward boosting its global network to 170 destinations from 113 over three years. The carrier's order backlog also includes 60 A350s and 10 A380s made by Airbus SAS. Qatar Airways also plans to resume services to Yangon, Myanmar in October, Al Baker said.
