Hilton plans to expand hotel portfolio in Saudi Arabia

(MENAFN) Hilton Worldwide unveiled plans extend its hospitality portfolio in Saudi Arabia by 7,000 rooms over the next two years, Arabian Business reported. Rudi Jagersbacher, president of Hilton Worldwide, Middle East & Africa, said that Hilton plans to open 14 new hotels in the kingdom, taking the number of properties it has in the oil-rich Gulf state to 20. The plan includes constructing six new properties in Makkah to tap on Hajj tourism, which sees millions flock to the city on Islamic pilgrimages each year. The Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently issued licenses for the construction of 500 hotels near the Grand Mosque in Makkah, including one with 5,000 rooms.
