    Saudi Arabia to import 3,000 cars for physically-challenged

    (MENAFN) Saudi placed a USD35.19 million order to import 3,000 cars specifically manufactured for people with special needs, Saudi Gazette reported. Dr. Abdullah Al-Yusuf, an official at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said the contract was signed with Al-Jomiah Company. The ministry said that the vehicles will be free of charge to those who suffer from mental retardation or severe deformity, belong to a family with inadequate means, live in a remote village, and have completed six years on the waiting list. The ministry has set up 37 centers across the kingdom to process all applications. Abdul Rahman Al-Matq, Director of the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center for Disabled in north central Buradiah warned from fraudsters who gather money from physically-challenged people for these vehicles, and harsh action against anyone found accountable of charging for these cars. Applicants that meet the criteria will be subjected to a medical examination at their place of residence, after which the ministry will confirm its decision to award the vehicle.
