Saudi may deport indebted expats instead of jailing them: Newspaper

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabian newspaper Al Watan reported that the Kingdom is looking into changing rules related to indebted expatriates. The newspaper said that the Kingdom is looking into the possibility of deporting indebted expatriates instead of sentencing them to serve time in jails. However, Al Watan noted that the new rules would have a debt cap of USD13,332 and would only apply to non-nationals who do not have a previous criminal record. Once deported, the expatriate would never be able to gain permission to visit Saudi Arabia again.
