    ME carriers' passenger demand up 16% in April

    (MENAFN) The International Air Transport Association's (IATA) director general and CEO, Tony Tyler, announced that last month, carriers in the Middle East (ME) posted a 16 percent gain in passenger traffic demand, reported Arabian Business. Tyler said that during the month, capacity grew 12.7 percent, whereas load factors stood at 78.3 percent. On the other hand, cargo traffic demand in April jumped 14.5 percent, while capacity went up by 15.1 percent. He added that in the previous month, passenger traffic demand increased 20.9 percent, however, the figure was affected by the impacts of the 2011 Arab Spring. It is worth noting that total global passenger traffic demand in April was up 6.1 percent, whereas cargo demand fell 4.2 percent.
