Costain seeks to extend business in ME

(MENAFN) UK-based engineering group behind Dubai International Airport Costain unveiled plans to extend its business further in the Middle East, Arabian Business reported. As a first step in its plan, Costain appointed Tim Bowen as regional development director with responsibility for the further development of Costain's consultancy and operations and maintenance services in the Middle East. Bowen, formerly highways director, joined Costain from Atkins in 2005 and has been instrumental in developing Costain's market leading highways activity, Costain said in a statement. His role will include seeking new opportunities in the rail, water and highways sectors in the region, the company said in a statement. In addition to Dubai International Airport, Costain, which has already a base in Abu Dhabi, executed other projects in the UAE including dredging 107 million cubic metres of sand and rock for Jebel Ali port for USD779 million, building Port Rashid in Dubai as part of a joint venture and constructing an army camp for the Oman's Armoured Regiment. The London Stock Exchange- listed company employs about 3,000 people.
