    Gulf Extrusions wins Saudi supply contract

    (MENAFN) Dubai-based Gulf Extrusions secured a supply contract from an institution in Saudi Arabia to provide 800 tonnes of X-ECO recycled aluminum alloys, Trade Arabia reported. Gulf Extrusions, a part of the Al Ghurair Group of Companies, produces aluminum extruded profiles ranging from architectural sections to components for air conditioning grills, furniture, marine applications, transportation, automotive, and customized products. General Manager Modar Al Mekdad said that the X-ECO offers significant benefits such as CO2 reduction of 60 to 80 percent as it requires far less energy than exploiting primary aluminum, reduction in the overall consumption of energy when used in buildings, far-reaching recycling options, maximum use of recycled aluminum and high grade quality. Established in 1978, Gulf Extrusions has been keen for sustainable development through the years by taking initiatives in various areas such as using wind energy in the factory building and warehouse for the ventilation system. It has installed a state-of-the-art ventilation system that is capable to significantly change the air volume of the building, and saving up to 750,000 Kwhr/year of energy. The company also has a treatment plant to produce water from liquid waste water through various surface treatment processes, and is used to irrigate 1,500 trees rounding the company. It also has an in-house aluminum scrap re-melting plant with a recycling capacity of 12,000 MT a year.
