    Dubai set to add a new USD32m tourism landmark

    (MENAFN) Dubai Municipality is set to construct a new tourism project known as Dubai Landmark, as the Gulf emirate seeks to strengthen its position as a main touristic destination, state news agency WAM reported. The USD32.66 million project was launched by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It includes the building of Al Berwaz Tower project at Zabeel Park. Dubai Municipality is supervising the design, implementation and management of the project, which has been described as "a new addition to the distinctive Dubai landmarks." Municipality director general Hussein Nasser Lootah expected the new project to attract around two million visitors and tourists. The tower will have dimensions of 150m tall and 105m wide and is due to start construction within four months, to be completed by the end of 2013. Dubai is known as the home for some of the world's most distinctive attractions, including Burj Khalifah the world's tallest tower, the world's biggest mall, a seven-star hotel and the region's only indoor ski resort. Dubai received 9.3 million tourists last year, a 10 percent increase from the previous year, according Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
