    Abu Dhabi hotels generate USD631m revenue in H1

    (MENAFN) Abu Dhabi hotels generated a total of USD631 million revenues during the first half of 2012, 2 percent higher than a year earlier, Arabian Business reported. According to figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), USD251 million of the total came from food and beverage income, which rose 11 percent, while USD314 million came from room revenue, a 4 percent decline from a year earlier. TCA Abu Dhabi said that the number of gusts staying in the Gulf emirate's hotels and hotel apartments during the first half rose 14 percent to 1.189 million. Hotel occupancy rate in the period fell 7 percent as new room stock came online. Abu Dhabi now has some 128 hotels and hotel apartments accounting for 22,079 rooms. Abu Dhabi achieved over 2.5 million room nights in the January-June period, an 8 percent increase compared to a year earlier. A total of 205,950 hotel guests booked into the UAE capital in June, up 17 percent on June 2011.
