Jordan- AIG in talks with UK's easyJet to expand network

(MENAFN) Airport International Group's (AIG) CEO, Kjeld Binger, stated that the consortium is in discussions with UK's easyJet to expand its network to Amman, reported Arabian Business. Binger said that AIG, which is spending USD850 million to restore Queen Alia International Airport, sees great opportunities in adding new routes from Europe to Amman, mainly in the low-cost field. The carrier is Europe's second-largest low-cost carrier and has 19 bases in Europe and 16 in the UK, including Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham. London Luton Airport-based easyJet started its 3 weekly Gatwick-Amman services in March last year. It is worth noting that AIG's 25-year build-operate-transfer agreement to develop Queen Alia Airport will increase the airport's annual capacity to 9 million passengers from 3 million.
