    UAE Jan-Apr non-oil trade up by USD4.70b

(MENAFN) The UAE's Federal Customs Authority (FCA) stated that during the January-April period of 2012, the country's non-oil trade grew by USD4.70 billion from last year's same period of USD82.47 billion to USD87.18 billion, reported Emirates 24/7. The FCA said that in the period, total foreign trade reached around 31.8 million tons, including 11.2 million tons in exports, 3.1 million tons in re-exports and 17.5 million tons in imports. The UAE's foreign trade in April alone reached nearly USD22.26 billion; including USD14.34 billion in imports, USD3.40 billion in exports and USD4.51 billion in re-exports. It is worth noting that the UAE's top non-oil trade partner in the first four months of the year was the Asia-Pacific region, with a total trade of USD39.62 billion, representing 46 percent of the total trade, followed by Europe with 25 percent of total trade, whereas the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region came third with 14 percent of total trade.
