    UAE's Jan-Jun foreign trade up by 10.5%

    (MENAFN) The UAE's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that in the January-June period, the country's foreign trade rose by 10.5 percent from last year's same period, reported Gulf News. The agency said that the UAE's trade reached USD135.8 billion, compared with USD122.9 billion in 2011's first half. It added that imports jumped by 12.3 percent from a year ago to USD87.47 billion, whereas national exports surged by 39.7 percent to USD20.95 billion, and re-exports fell by 8.8 percent to USD27.35 billion. It is worth noting that the UAE's total non-oil foreign trade in the first 6 months of 2012 grew to USD20.95 billion, representing an increase of 39.7 percent from the USD14.99 billion posted in the same period in 2011.
