Qatar Airways plans to expand fleet to 170 planes by 2015

(MENAFN) Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, stated that in 3 years, the carrier would expand its fleet to 170 aircraft from the current 112, reported Arabian Business. Al Baker said that by 2015, the carrier will serve around 70 destinations. The airline, which received its first Dreamliner 787-10X last week, is expected to take delivery of another 4 during the current year, and will continue to receive Boeing's latest model until 2017. He said that Qatar Airways has 30 firm orders for the 787 and an option for another 30. However, he noted that the Qatari company is also interested in the larger 787-10X model, being currently developed by the US plane maker. It is worth noting that the Doha-based carrier is also interested in Bombardier's Cseries, and the airline is expected to launch talks with the Canadian firm in 2013 to order some of the model's planes.
