    Victoria state plans "super trade mission' to GCC in February

    (MENAFN) Australia's Victoria state is preparing a "super trade mission" that will include over 170 companies working in the state, to head to GCC in February in a bid to boost trade and investment, Arabian Business reported. Louise Asher, Victoria's Minister for Tourism and Major Events will be heading the mission, accompanied by top executives from dozens of companies during a visit to the UAE and Saudi Arabia between February 23 and March 1, as part of the Coalition Government's USD50 million international engagement strategy. Asher previously led a trade mission to the Middle East in 2012, which fruited USD18 million in sales and projected exports to the region from Victorian companies of up to USD235 million over the next two years. The mission will focus on opportunities in food, tourism, agribusiness, water, equine, infrastructure, defence, higher education, vocational education and marine industries. The Victorian Coalition Government, under former Premier Jeff Kennett, opened a business office in Dubai in 1997.
