Jordanian tourism scores USD1b revenues in Q1

(MENAFN) According to the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), the tourism sector showed an increase of 11.1 percent to a total of USD1.026 billion in the first quarter of 2014, compared to USD924.4 million in 2013, QNA reported. CBJ said that the total revenues of Jordan's tourism increased in March, 2014 by 9.2 percent, to hit USD370 million. The bank attributed the increase to the large number of visitors from GCC countries, the USA, Libya and Yemen. It added that these huge revenues helped in reviving the tourism sector, which forms one of the main sources of foreign currency income for the country.
