UAE's Masdar build first wind farm in Samoa

(MENAFN) Masdar, Abu Dhabi's leading renewable energy company, has finished building Samoa's first wind farm, Khaleej Times reported.

The 550 kW project is the second project completed under the UAE USD50 million Pacific Partnership Fund and is managed by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

The UAE supported project, and others like it underway across the Pacific, will unlock significant economic and social benefits across the region. By providing local sources of renewable energy and reducing reliance on imported fuels, these projects are going to help countries like Samoa realize their development ambitions.

Located on the Samoan island of Upolu, home to nearly 75 per cent of the population, the wind farm will supply 1,500MWh of power per year, delivering USD475.000 in annual fuel cost savings.

"The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is committed to working collaboratively with governments across the developing world, on projects that deliver tangible social and economic benefits. This innovative project offers energy access to thousands of people," Director General of the ADFD said
