    Saudi's Haramain railway first part done by mid-2015

    (MENAFN) Saudi Arabia is set to complete the first part of its multi-billion dollar Haramain rail project, which includes the construction of a rail network linking its western towns of Median and Rabigh, in mid-2015, Emirates 24/7 reported.

    The second part of the project, which will be linking the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah with nearby Makkah, would be finished in mid-2016.

    The 450-km rail would pass through Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdullah City, Rabigh and Madina, and would include five main train stations, as well as 35 high-speed electric trains travelling at 300 km/h containing 13 carts each.

    "Four key train stations for this project will be completed before the end of this year making this the largest public transport project in the Middle East," the Project Director said
