ME's PC sales increase by 2.2 percent in H1
(MENAFN) The Middle East's PC market registered an increase in the April-June period, posting a 2.2 percent growth to a total of 4.5 million units being sold after seven successive quarters of declines, Saudi Gazette reported.
The figures showed growth in both the desktop and portable product categories, with the desktops growing by 2.9 percent compared to last year to reach 1.8 million units and portables increasing by 1.7 percent over the same period to total 2.7 million units.
The biggest growth in PC shipments was witnessed in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Afghanistan, due to growing demand from both the commercial and consumer segments.
In terms of manufacturers, HP maintained the highest PC market share in the region during the cited period, with a growth of 26.1 percent compared to last year, the fastest growth seen in the consumer space.
Lenovo maintained its position as number two, with shipments increasing 71.2 percent compared to last year, while Dell maintained its position at number three, despite suffering a mild decline of 3.3 percent compared to last year following a weak performance in the consumer segment, while Acer and Asus ranked fourth and fifth.
