Malaysian AirAsia considers to launch new Dubai route
(MENAFN) AirAsia, the Malaysian low-cost carrier, announced it is considering launching flights to the Dubai as early as next year, Gulf News reported.
AirAsia, which has built a brand around the low-cost model, believes it could create its own position in the Dubai market despite having strong competitors, mainly the Emirates due to the two carriers serving different markets, especially with AirAsia focusing on flexible independent travelers.
AirAsia, which has its main base in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has several branches under its umbrella including AirAsia X which operates out of a number of countries in Asia and the company is considering launching a direct Kuala Lumpur-Dubai service soon, while its AirAsia X brand could fly to Dubai from Bangkok in Thailand or Bali in Indonesia.
The airline, which also recently launched AirAsia India, a joint venture which the parent company holds a 49 per cent stake in, said that an India-Dubai service would be ideal but will be dependent on Indian regulators approving international routes.
