Dubai foreign trade of commodities hits Dh28.2b in H1
(MENAFN) Dubai's foreign trade in commodities such as ready-made clothes, shoes, perfumes and cosmetics, reached USD7.67 billion in the January-June period of 2014, increasing by 12 percent compared to the same period in 2013, with imports accounting for USD5.60 billion, and exports for USD299.42 million, Khaleej Times reported.
In the first half of 2014, Dubai's foreign trade in ready-made wears reached up to USD3.62 billion, increasing by 12 percent compared to the same period in 2013, with USD2.88 billion worth of imports, and USD45.18 million in exports.
Meanwhile, perfumes and cosmetics trade value grew by 11 percent to reach USD2.77 billion, of which USD1.76 billion imports, and USD244.16 million exports, while trade in shoes, reached USD1.25 billion, up by 18 percent, with USD979.93 million going for imports, and USD3.81 million for exports.
In terms of countries, China and Bangladesh ranked at the top in destination markets from where Dubai gets its imports, while the United Kingdom, Germany and the US topped the list in exports.
As for perfumes and cosmetics trade, France, the US and the UK topped the imports list, while most exports went to Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt, and in footwear trade, the largest share of imports came from China, Italy and Vietnam respectively, while Oman and the UK were on the top of exporting markets.
