    Etihad Airways revenue hits USD1.8b in Q3

    (MENAFN) Etihad Airways, the UAE national carrier, announced it has reported a 29 percent increase in its revenues, reaching USD1.8 billion in the July-September period, Arabian Business reported.

    The Abu Dhabi-based airline said it carried 3.9 million passengers during the third quarter of this year, an increase by 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

    Etihad said that this growth was helped by the three additional aircrafts, which the carrier received during the quarter and resulted in its fleet to amounting to 105 aircrafts, as well as the launching of the new flights to Yerevan, Paris and Rome.

    Meanwhile, Etihad Cargo also said it has registered a 16 percent growth in its revenue for the third quarter, which witnessed the cargo carrier to handle 144,498 tons of freight and mail during the July-September period, thus registering a 9 percent growth compared to the same period in 2013.

    "Our focus on organic growth, codeshare partnerships and minority investments in other airlines has continued to produce strong results, despite the prevalence of industry challenges such as volatile oil prices, economic and political instability, overcapacity in the market, and access constraints," Etihad president and CEO said.
