Saudi Aramco, Chinese Sepco sign a deal
(MENAFN) Saudi Aramco announced it has signed a contract with China's Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation (Sepco) for a project involving the expanding of the capacity of the main gas pipeline across Saudi Arabia, , which will help in the improving of supplying energy for industries in the west of the country, Gulf Daily News reported.
The signed contract, which involves the first phase of the project, will allow the Chinese group to work on expanding the master gas system (MGS), as well as installing two booster gas compressor stations.
The project is expected to help in delivering gas to the western region, including the King Abdullah Economic City, Petro Rabigh and an independent power plant, with an estimated worth between USD1 billion to around USD1.3 billion.
Once the project is done, which is set to the end of 2016, the capacity of MGS will rise to 9.6 billion cubic feet of gas a day compared to its current capacity of 8.4 billion.
