UAE's du net profit up 17.8 percent in Q3
(MENAFN) Du, the United Arab Emirates number 2 telecom operator by subscriber numbers, reported an increase in its net profit by 17.8 percent, reaching USD152 million during the July-September period of this year compared with USD 129.09 million during the same quarter last year, Arabian Business reported.
The firm, which competes with Etisalat, also reported that its revenue during this year's third quarter hit USD 824.71 million, an increase compared with USD 718.56 million registered during the same quarter a year ago.
"Data continued to be a key market driver during the quarter. The world is evolving to incorporate integrated digital services into a commodity that is used throughout every aspect of our daily lives. The issue for the industry however, remains our ability to monetize data" Chief Executive of du said.
Meanwhile, the telecom company said it posted an increase in its quarterly mobile revenue, which were up by 9 percent to reach USD609.68 million, compared to USD186.17 million in quarterly mobile data revenue in 2013, while fixed line services revenue increased 36 percent to USD162.76 million over the same period.
