Qatar's Hamad Int'l airport passenger traffic up 10 percent in September

(MEAFN) Qatar's Hamad International Airport (HIA) registered an increase in its passenger and cargo traffic by 10 percent in September compared to those at Doha International Airport (DIA) during the same period in 2013, QNA reported.

The total of passengers, which used the airport for departure, transfer or arrived into the airport, has reached 2.201.271 during September 2014, which showcases the new airport's global standing as an international transit hub.

Meanwhile, cargo, mail and aircraft movements have also increased at HIA with an additional 13.6 percent of cargo traffic, as well as increase by 4.7 percent in mail and 7.6 percent more aircraft movements during September.

The airport also said that they are continuing in adding new facilities to its passenger terminal complex, including a multitude of ATMs, currency exchange outlets and a dedicated area for taxis, to ensure passengers have a seamless and hassle-free journey.

"In our fourth month of operation, we are seeing continued growth in passenger, cargo and mail traffic. HIA is distinguishing itself as a world-class airport and a key hub for the Middle East, and we are proud to be the home of Qatar's national carrier, Qatar Airways, along with more than 40 other international airlines," HIA Chief Operating Officer said.
