Emirates Group net profit hits USD12.9b in Apr.-Sep.
(MENAFN) The Emirates Group today announced it has registered USD12.9 billion in revenues during the April-September period of this year, increasing by 12 percent compared with USD11.5 billion during the same period last year, while its net profit was up by 1 percent to hit USD607 million, Emirates 24/7 reported.
"As the biggest operator at Dubai International, we also took the biggest hit to our bottom line from the 80-day runway upgrading works. However, we had anticipated it and made meticulous plans to minimize impact operationally and commercially for both Emirates. The success of these plans can be seen in our overall growth during this six-month period in spite of the challenge," said Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
During the first six months of this year, Emirates said that it has received 13 wide-body aircraft, with 11 more new aircraft scheduled to be delivered before the end of the end of March 2015. These new aircrafts helped the airline in expanding its global route network by launching services to four new destinations: Abuja, Chicago, Oslo, and Brussels.
Emirates Airlines, which flies to 146 destinations in 83 countries as of the end of the first nine months of this year increasing from 137 cities in 77 countries last year, said that despite the challenges that the aviation sector is facing, the airline registered a net profit of USD514 million during the April-September period, up 8 per cent from the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the carrier's revenue, including other operating income, reached USD12 billion), a growth of 11 percent compared with USD10.8 billion recorded last year.
