Saudi Aramco to double capacity of Fadhili gas plant
(MENAFN) Saudi Aramco announced that it is planning to double Fadhili's capacity, the company's planned new gas plant, to reach 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd), Gulf Business reported.
The plant, which will be situated in eastern Saudi Arabia and expected to be in operatuin by the third quarter of 2018, was originally scheduled to process 1.5 billion scfd of sour gas from the Khursaniyah and Hasbah fields, with the increase scheduled to come from the Hasbah offshore gas field which contains high levels of hydrogen sulphide, nitrogen and CO2.
Meanwhile, the company said that it supports Saudi's plan double its natural gas output by 2030 and to keep the increase at the country to fuel domestic growth, with the company planning to develop new gas fields not associated with oil production by investing USD3 billion, as well as deciding to raise its gas system output to 9.6 bln scfd by the end of 2016.
