    Dubai's DWC plans expansion by 2016

    (MENAFN) Dubai World Central (DWC) announced it is planning to expand the number of leasable warehouses it has available in its 21 square kilometer logistics park by 2016, Gulf News reported.

    DWC said that it its plan includes building a warehouses as it attempts to attract small and medium sized enterprises (SME) to the free zone, with this warehouse joining the first three which were delivered in 2012, while a fourth will be done by mid-2015.

    By opening the new warehouse, DWC said that it wants companies from the oil and gas, fashion, perishables, life sciences, information technology, telecoms and critical spare parts sectors to set up in the free zone.

    "The warehouses allow companies set up in DWC and not be burdened with the heavy investment. Our objective is to bring more SME's to the logistics park," vice president of the logistics district at DWC said.

    DWC's logistics park, which already has attracted big companies including DHL, Aramex and Emirates Sky Cargo, said that the new regional redistribution center, which IKEA is planning to open, is currently under construction.
