    Kuwait trade surplus hits USD18.11b in Q3

    (MENAFN) According to the Kuwaiti Central Statistical Bureau (CSB), Kuwait's trade balance registered a surplus of about USD18.11 billion during the July-September period of 2014, a decline when compared with USD21.31 billion during the same period last year, KUNA reported.

    During the third quarter of this year, Kuwait's total exports have reached USD25.96 billion, declining by 8.7 percent compared to the same period in 2013, while imports hit USD7.85 billion, thus increasing by 10.4 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2013.

    In the same period, volume of trade decreased by 4.8 percent compared with the third quarter of 2013, reaching USD33.82 billion in the July-September period of 2014 compared with USD35.54 billion it registered in the same period last year.

    In terms of categories for exports, mineral fuels and oils had the highest share of 94 percent of exports with a value of USD24.42 billion, followed by organic chemicals with 1.9 percent and a value of USD489.76 million and then by Plastics and Articles with 0.9 percent of export shares.

    In terms of countries during the third quarter of this year, India topped the list for non-oil exports with USD332.08 million, it was followed by China with a value of USD219.11 million and then UAE with USD182.59 million for exports, while for imports China topped the list with USD1.11 billion, followed by the US with USD824.23 million then the UAE with USD690.10 million.
