PepsiCo opens manufacturing plant in Saudi
(MENAFN) PepsiCo announced it has opened a new manufacturing facility for snacks in Saudi Arabia, which is built on a 55.000 square meters land and will employ 300 staff, including 40 women, as part of its plan to expand its presence in the region, Gulf Business reported.
PepsiCo said that the new plant, the company's fifteenth in the Middle East region, will produce products such as Lays Forno, and is expected to become the supplier of the snack market across the Kingdom.
The company said that this plant is part of a growth plan it set for the developing and emerging markets around the globe, and follows the recent launch of PepsiCo's innovation center in Dubai's Dubai Tech, its first facility in the Middle East, which will serve as a hub of new products and flavors innovations for the company's businesses across the region.
The new Saudi plant also follows the company, in partnership with Saudi diary firm Almarai, announcing plans to invest USD345 million in the Egyptian market over the next five years earlier this year.
"The Middle East is a dynamic food and beverage market and a critical engine of growth for PepsiCo. Over the years, PepsiCo and Saudi Arabia have prospered together and the investment in this plant is testament to our belief in PepsiCo's bright future in this country and the wider region," PepsiCo Chairperson and CEO said at the plant's inauguration ceremony.
