Etihad, Hong Kong Airlines sign codeshare deal

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways announced it has signed a codeshare agreement with Hong Kong Airlines to provide travelers with enhanced connections between Asia, the Middle East and Europe, Arabian Business reported.

Under the new agreement, Etihad Airways will place its 'EY' code on Hong Kong Airlines' flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok, as well as flights between Hong Kong and Okinawa, a popular tourism destination in Southern Japan.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong Airline's 'HX' code will be placed on Etihad Airways' triple-daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, together with two services that will connect Abu Dhabi to Madrid and to Hong Kong, which will be launched by the carrier on March 29 and June 15, respectively.

"Codeshares are a fundamental part of Etihad Airways' long-term growth strategy and we are delighted to sign this agreement with Hong Kong Airlines. Our partnership will result in multiple benefits for both airlines and, importantly, there are considerable advantages for travelers as well," Chief strategy and planning officer at Etihad Airways said.
