(MENAFN) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced it has approved a total budget of USD6.22 billion for 2015, compared with USD5.59 billion for the budget in 2014, with the increase aimed to be spent on ensuring a reliable supply of electricity and water to meet Dubai's development plans, Gulf News reported.
Dewa said that the budget will enable it to adopt the best and latest technologies across all its operations, as well as enabling it to provide electricity and water at the highest levels of reliability, efficiency, safety, and sustainability to the emirate.
According to Dewa, the budget is set to be divided on several important projects, with USD2.25 billion being assigned for capital purchases and projects, compared with USD1.92 billion in 2014.
These projects include increasing the production capacity of the electricity generation and water desalination plant at K-Station in Jebel Ali by adding two gas turbines to generate 500MW, as well as increasing the The production capacity of the electricity and water generation plant at M-Station in Jebel Ali, which will also be increased by 700MW.
