Etihad Cargo records tonnage high in November
(MENAFN) Etihad Cargo, the freight division of UAE flag carrier Etihad Airways, announced it has carried 53.292 tons of cargo in November across its global network, thus achieving an all-time record of cargo carried in one month, Arabian Business reported.
November's amount of cargo handled by Etihad Cargo surpasses its previous monthly record of 51.688 tons carried in October, as well as being an increase by 7 percent compared with the same month last year.
Meanwhile, Etihad Cargo's amount of cargo handled is forecasted to top 570.000 tons, registering an increase by 17 percent compared with last year, as well as to secure over USD1 billion in revenue to-date.
Etihad Cargo said that the increase in the amount of cargo handled is attributed to the company adding 10 new destinations to its network including Medina, Los Angeles, Zurich, Rome, Perth, Phuket, Dallas and San Francisco, bringing the total number of passenger destinations on which cargo services is provided on to 90.
In addition to these expansions, Etihad Cargo also expanded its freighter services to several new markets including Dar es Salaam and Entebbe in East Africa, Hanoi in Vietnam, and Moscow in Russia, thus bringing the number of freighter-only destinations currently operated by Etihad Cargo to 15.
"Our business continues to grow as we work with our global partners to provide customers with a fully integrated global cargo solution. We have seen strong growth in cargo volumes over the last year, and particularly to and from Asia and Africa as we continue to leverage the strategic location of our hub in Abu Dhabi to provide a link between the mature markets and emerging economies around the world," Etihad's chief strategy and planning officer said.
